Methods of Separation

Posted by FJREP under Uncategorized on March 26th, 2008.

Sieving – use to separate different sized solid particles of various sizes. Used in banks, mining industry and to sort foodstuffs.
Filtration – used separate an insoluble substance from a liquid. Un-dissolved solid particles are separated from a liquid (or gas) by passing the mixture through a screen such as filter paper that is fine enough to collect particles of solid.
Evaporation – evaporation separates soluble substance from a solution.
Distillation – used to purify liquids (to obtain a solvent from a solution). It involves boiling a liquid and cooling the gas produced to condense it back to the liquid state. Effective when the components have different boiling points. (more…)

Emotions

Posted by FJREP under Uncategorized on January 25th, 2008.

What are emotions ? Why do we feel them ? Do you ever wonder (like i am) why we are given emotions ? What would the world be like if we didn’t have, express and feel emotions ? These are all questions which puzzle my mind at the moment. They probably have simple answers which vary from person to person but still my head and heart pose this question to me. The only answer that comes to my head is that its only human to have emotions, but this really doesn’t answer my own questions of ‘Why’.

Leave some comments on what you guys think.

Best Poker Hands

Posted by FJREP under Uncategorized on January 22nd, 2008.

One of the keys to being a strong Texas Hold ‘Em Poker player is to know which hands are playable and which are not. This list of the top 10 best starting hands for Texas Holdem is a good place to start learning. Note that there is some disagreement over which hands are the best, and it depends on part on your skill level and style of play. And a great starting hand can turn bad quickly with the wrong community cards. This list reflects a consensus of the resources I trust the most.

1. Ace-Ace

A pair of aces, also known as “pocket rockets” (and sometimes “American Airlines”) is the best starting hand.

2. King-King

Second on the list is a pair of kings, also known as “cowboys” or “King Kong.”

3. Queen-Queen

A pair of queens, also known as “ladies,” rounds out the top three best starting hands for Texas Holdem Poker.

4. Ace-King (suited)

This is where people start to disagree. A suited ace-king, also known as “big slick,” is my pick.

5. Ace-Queen (suited)

The suited “big chick,” or “little slick,” the nicknames given to a pocket ace-queen, is next in line.
